DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan — Pakistani intelligence officials say a U.S. missile strike close to the Afghan border has killed five suspected militants.

They said the attack Tuesday took place in the South Waziristan region.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with agency policy.

The United States regularly pounds militant targets in northwest Pakistan with missiles fired from unmanned aircraft.
